FUTURE FORWARD FOR HAITI
works to improve the education and well-being of children and their families in Haiti. We have been working with the Light and Peace Missions in Chapottin and Trois Mares since 2008 and added the community of St. Louis d'Ayiti (SLA) in 2018 and Bois Negresse in 2021 . Local Haitian leaders explain their needs to us, but they actually run the schools, cook the meals, and reach out to the communities in their own ways.
SMALL enough to make a difference.
We make a difference for the four remote mountain villages because we LISTEN to their leaders. Future Forward for Haiti listens closely to local pastors and teachers, parents and children at the Light and Peace Missions who are always devoted to caring for their whole communities. We ask what they need and try to imagine together how we can help. Then we return home and get to work. That is our usual system. Since 2019, insecurity in Port au Prince has made it impossible for our our partners to provide for our safety, so we have not been able to visit since then, but we email together regularly.
We make a difference for you, because you can KNOW who your investments help and SEE what we build together. With your help, we support salaries for teachers, cooks and administrators. Our packathons provide school lunches. We have financed new buildings and cisterns. Over the past ten years We have also re-roofed church/school buildings after hurricanes and provided a mule or motorcycle where roads do not exist. We have replaced a school kitchen, added an office, provided both a gas generator and solar lights as appropriate, and financed seed potatoes to replace a crop lost to hurricanes.
We keep in touch with leaders in our partner communities, and see the outcomes of our effort every time we visit. We look forward to traveling back to our partners as soon as Haiti’s it is safe enough.
Future Forward For Haiti incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity in 2015 to administer the work begun by Grace Lutheran Church, Teaneck, in 2008. All our work is accomplished by volunteers in order to send the most possible aid to Haiti. More than 95% of every donation goes directly to support the work in Haiti.
